Circular Economy Hotspot in Bottrop, Germany (on site)
From 12 to 15 September 2022, the Circular Economy Tour across Europe once again stopped at a Hotspot location - the Circular Economy Hotspot in Bottrop!
The venue was the former Prosper-Haniel mine in Bottrop, which was transformed from a fossil coal mine into the Circular Economy Hotspot venue, becoming part of the circular economy itself and a signal for a sustainable future in North Rhine-Westphalia and Europe.
Many Circular Economy Tour partners came to Bottrop to discuss current circular initiatives and the future of our economy. With 12 regional sector tours, networking evenings, panel discussions, business pitches, a large exhibition hall and 12 learning labs, the hotspot in Bottrop was a major event for circular economy stakeholders.
It was a great event with too many activities and impressions to show them all. However, we want to share with you the great news that the Virtual Circular Economy Tour across Europe will continue and plans to travel from Bottrop to Dublin, where the next Hotspot will take place in April 2023!
Furthermore we would like to present the products that emerged from the Circular Economy Virtual Tour for SMEs across Europe and were launched at the Hotspot event in Bottrop:
- The booklet of the Virtual Tour of Circular Economy SMEs across Europe - from Barcelona to Bottrop shows all 9 sectors we travelled to and presents all participating companies with their circular business models. The booklet is an ideal material to get an impression of the sectors of the circular economy and the variety of possible business models in these sectors.

- The ScenCi game is a multi-player serious game based on the good practice examples of circular companies from this project. The ScenCi game allows players to learn about the circular economy in an explorative way and is suitable for workshops with professionals or for educational purposes with students.
